New teachers need to do steps 1-5 below from 2017 to create an account, complete the tutorial & review lessons.

2020: same as 2021 above. No changes.

2019:  Teachers wanted to emphasize and focus on each lesson/theme within their Common Sense Media Unit, so all lessons were taught by the end of September with teachers taking time to focus at least a full week on each lesson & revisiting the digital citizenship themes throughout the school year.

2018: All K-6 teachers, taught their students all Common Sense Digital Citizenship lessons assigned to their grade level during our CES Digital Citizenship Focus Week: September 11-15. Specials teachers emphasized digital citizenship in their classes during the week, and the library did some continuation lessons during that week and throughout the year.

2017: K-6th Grade Teachers met to discuss our district and school's focus on digital citizenship and the plan for next year & completed the following 1-5 steps before Spring Break.

    1. Go to https://www.commonsensemedia.org/ and create your free account (Become a member) so that you have a login to the site.

    2. Sign in. You will see your name in upper right of website when you are signed in.

    3. Complete the PD tutorial for your grade level. https://www.commonsensemedia.org/educators/training (You must be signed in to the site in order to do the PD tutorial.)

You will explore issues facing your students, sample lesson activities, and see examples of digital citizenship in action.

    4. Print your certificate of completion and place in Paula's box in office before Spring Break.

HOW DO I ACCESS THE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION?

At the end of the tutorial, you'll take a brief survey. At the end of the survey, you'll be directed to a link to the certificate. In order to access the certificate, you will need to be logged in as an educator on our site.

    5. Review the lessons in your Unit for your Grade Band (below) in the Scope and Sequence and let us know if you have any concerns about the content for which you are responsible to teach. This will be taught during CES Digital Citizenship week which is Sept 11-15 , 2017.
